I went to a small high school, and there were definitely a couple points in that whole experience when I JUST WANTED TO GET OUT OF HERE.  Friends from small towns, I'm sure you hear me.  We feel trapped, confined, judged, pegged, and we just want OUT.

Then we get out.  And geeze can the world be a beautiful place.

And then some of us come back.  I did.  Kinda surprised myself, really, but hey, jobs are more available where you have connections, and hometowns tend to be full of connections.  Good news, I love living so near to my hometown and family.  It's good bull, Ags.

Here's ONE beautiful element of this little life of mine:  I get to reconnect with friends from high school.  Krystal and I didn't run in the same circles, but like most students in our school, we knew who each other were.  It's been fun to keep up with Krystal via social media, but certainly didn't compare to catching up in person.  This woman is a hard worker and dreams big--I can't wait to hear what's new with her the next time we get to catch up.

Zach and Claire (and Sadie!): Mini Session

Zach told me that when he got Sadie, he decided that he wanted everyone who met her to comment on how well-behaved she is--and my goodness, has he met his goal!  While photographing Zach and Claire, Sadie explored a tiny bit, but really just had her eye on her people, and kept coming back for more love.  I've seen photogenic dogs, but my goodness, Sadie is a LOOKER!

Bonus: HOW CUTE ARE ZACH AND CLAIRE?  For real.  Completely sweet on each other, this couple was way too much fun to photograph and catch up with (spoiler: I was one of Zach's high school teachers).

Gandillon Family: Mini Sessions

Man, there's really not much better than kids who are safe and confident with their parents.  Like seriously, beat that.  Can't be done.

These four are a beautiful show of real family love, and it filled up my little grinch heart to the tip-top to hang out with them.  The kiddos are the most brave, adventurous little ones you can imagine.  They were 0% afraid of exploring, which made for super fun photos.  Who needs to pose when you can play, yeah?!

Kacie and Kids: Mini Sessions

There's really not enough I can say about this momma.  We went to school together from K-12, and she was always--I mean ALWAYS--kind, easy going, and friendly with everyone.  This includes the perilous junior high years, people.  She has two incredibly beautiful and confident kiddos (teach me your ways, momma--oh to have confident kids at this age!!) who obviously adore her, and it was a treat (rather, blessing) to get to hang out with this sweet family for a few minutes last weekend.  Beautiful, beautiful people (inside, outside, upside, downside, all the sides), y'all.

Kyla: Spring Mini Sessions

Mini sessions were SO FUN this past weekend!!  It was a smaller group than my fall date, but that was good for two reasons: a) humbling! always good. and b) a little more creative brain space.  Apparently that's a limited resource sometimes, haha!

Here's a little peak of Kyla, the 8th grade daughter of one of our friends.  Occasion for the photos?  They just wanted them.  I love that.  This girl is ten kinds of spunk and fun, and I really wish I was as confident as her when I was her age.  I also wish I had her sense of style...currently...
